HOW TO PREPARE FOR A BRAZILLIAN WAX

Has quarantine left your bush looking like an overgrown chia pet? If you would like to shed the extra coverage, skip the awkward attempt at angling your head down under and leave your Australian outback to a professional. After 16 years of waxing, this esthetician has seen a thing or two. I want to help make this slightly uncomfortable experience worth it for the results of a sweet, smooth kitty. In this blog post, I will address how to prepare for a Brazilian wax service and other frequently asked waxing questions.

SHOULD I TRIM?

Leave hair removal ‘down under’ to a professional.

Leave hair removal ‘down under’ to a professional.

If your lady garden is overgrown, it is helpful to clip down to a reasonable length. However, it is my experience that people tend to over trim. Leave your hair about an inch long for optimal waxing.  This will make your waxing service faster and less painful for you.

DOES IT HURT?

Well, yes. However, the anticipation is worse than actuality. Your technician will help you breathe through the tough spots where it will sting for a moment. The pain subsides quickly and you will be perfectly hair free in no time. Good news is that if you keep up on your waxing every month, it will be much less painful as your hair will not grow back all at once.

IS ALL THE HAIR REMOVED?

To be or not to be? You can discuss your preferences with your esthetician. Decide what style you would like before hand, triangle, rectangle, or everything off! Your technician will remove the hair from the bikini line then as far inward as you would like. Everything down under is removed with the knees tucked to the chest.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A BRAZILLIAN WAX?

Everyone feels more comfortable when they are feeling fresh and clean down there. Cleansing the skin prior to your appointment prevents infections and removes lotions, oils and anything that may prevent the wax from grabbing the hair. It’s not always possible to run home and shower then make it to your appointment on time, so have some Sweet Spot Wipes in your purse to use before hand.  If you forget to bring yours, don’t worry, we have cleansing wipes available for your convenience.

WHAT SHOULD WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?

I do not advise coming dressed in your skinny jeans. Wear comfortable clothes. Waxing will sensitize the skin. Minimize friction on your sensitive skin with loose clothing.

Pro tip: allow your skin to heal for a least a day before you get frisky with your partner.

HOW SHOULD I CARE FOR MY SKIN AFTERWARDS?

Caring for your skin after your first Brazilian waxing appointment is important for healing and minimizing infection. Cleanse your skin with Remedy Cream to Oil Cleanser the evening after your wax. Follow with a cooling mist of Remedy Toner and Remedy Oil . The Remedy product family from [ comfort zone ] contain botanical extracts from the Mexican Hysop plant alleviate redness, vasodilatation, and temperature. This will aid in the healing of your skin and prevent white pustules from appearing the following day.

HOW DO I PREVENT INGROWN HAIRS?

Ingrown hairs are caused by a blockage in the hair follicle. They appear as red irritations as well as something similar to a blackhead. Pore clogging dead skin cells and oil can be dissolved by exfoliating your skin starting one week after your Brazilian wax. Use Active Pureness Gel Cleanser for a gentle exfoliation with AHA acids. Follow with Sublime Skin Peel Pads and Sacred Nature Body Butter. This will allow the hair a free path and prevent hairs growing under the skin.

WHEN DO I COME BACK FOR MY NEXT APPOINTMENT?

Bad news about hair. It grows back. While your new growth may be finer and less dense, you will want to return for your next appointment in 4 to 6 weeks. Good news is that you save $10 on your follow up appointment. Each month you return, you will feel less and less nervous about the awkwardness of someone getting up close and personal. Your technician will be most concerned about getting the hair removed as quickly and painlessly as possible. You will establish a trusting relationship and look forward to seeing your esthetician each month for your regular self care. The freedom of a bare muff will leave you feeling sexy and confident about your body, clothes on or off.
